１１３景 愛宕下藪小路 View 113 Atago-shita Yabu-koji

愛宕下と呼ばれるあたりです。今でいえば港区にあります。

This is the area called Atago-shita. (now in Minato-ku)

白い雪が空にも川面にも舞っています。

３羽のスズメが楽しそう。

人はなんだか寒そうに静かに歩いています。

Snow is falling onto the ground and onto the water.

Three sparrows are flying merrily.

People are walking quietly.

江戸切絵図によるとこの辺りには大名の上屋敷がたくさんありました。

左手に見えるのは土方家の上屋敷。

右手には、竹しか見えていませんが、加藤家の上屋敷がありました。

加藤家の竹藪は江戸庶民によく知られていたそうです。

According to the old Edo map, many feudal lords had their residence in this area.

One on the left was the residence of the Hijikata clan.

On the right, though it is just showing its bamboos, was the residence of the Kato clan.

The bamboo grove of the Kato clan was famous among Edo people.

遠方の雪をかぶった木々は愛宕山。

その下の赤いのは真福寺の山門です。

The snow-covered trees in the distance are those on Mt. Atago, and the red gate under it is that of Shinpuku-ji temple.

さて、真福寺に行ってみましょう。

びっくりです！

I went to see Shinpuku-ji temple, and was shocked!

大きなビルの中にありました。

It was in a big, tall building.

でもこの真福寺は由緒あるお寺です。１６０５年に開創。愛宕下のお薬師さんとして広く江戸庶民の信仰を集めていました。

また江戸末期にはオランダ、ロシア、アメリカ、イギリス、フランスの使節団の宿館として利用されました。

でも度重なる火災や地震のために建物は何度も消失。このビルは１９９５年に建てられたそうです。

これまで見た中で一番近代的なお寺でした。

The temple has a long history, though.  

It was first built in 1605 and was widely worshiped by Edo people as "Medicine Master of Atago-shita."

And in the end of Edo period, delegations from Holland, Russha, America, England and France stayed there for some time.

But the temple suffered from numerous fire and earthquake disasters.  They built this modern building in 1995.

Anyway, this was the most modern temple I ever saw.

と言っていたら、またもやびっくりです！

And then, I was shocked again!

たぶん加藤家の上屋敷があったあたりだと思うんですけど…

I believe this is where the Kato clan's residence was...

こんな建物を建てているようです。

They are building this

５２階建ての複合ビル。よくは理解できませんでしたが、説明によるとどうやらビルの中を道路が通ることになるとかかんとか…。

２０１４年完成予定です。

 52-story skyscraper complex. 

I didn't understand fully, but they said that a road is going to run through the building.  

It is scheduled for completion in 2014.

一帯はまったく変わってしまっていました。

でもできるだけ広重のような写真が撮りたい！

頑張ってみましたが、さてどうでしょう？

The area has changed completely...

But I tried my best to take a picture as close to Hiroshige's as possible.

 How is this?

工事現場の柵に植物が育てられていました。

竹、には見えませんか？　(^_-)

They had these plants on the construction site fence.

Don't they look like bamboos?　(^_-)

このあたりで古そうなものといえば、この「虎ノ門砂場」というお蕎麦屋さん。

１９２３年築の建物だそうです。頑張って生き残ってほしいです。

The only thing that looked old in the area was this old Soba restaurant "Toranomon Sunaba."

It was built in 1923.

Keep standing there, please.
