Hakusasonso Villa in Kyoto 白沙村荘

１１月のはじめに京都に行ってきました。
目的は京都御所の秋季一般公開。


すばらしかったですが、すごい人でした。


I was in Kyoto again this month, mainly to visit　Kyoto Imperial Palace.
Usually we can't go in the palace, but for a few days each in spring and autumn, it is open to the public..


It was magnifcent.  


But as you can see, there were so many people......

清水寺にも行きましたよ。

壮大でしたが、すごい人でした。

I went to Kiyomizudera Temple.

It's dynamic..  

But as you can see, there were so many people......as usual.

ちょっと疲れました。


I was quite tired......












そんな時銀閣寺の近くでほっとする庭園を見つけましたよ。


白沙村荘（はくさそんそう）です。






Then I found a very tranquil garden near Ginkakuji Temple.


It's called Hakusasonso.














日本画家の橋本関雪（１８８３～１９４５）の住居。


｢都市の中にあって深山に住むかのごとくひっそりと暮らす」
この理想を求めて、３０年に渡り、自ら作り続けた庭だそうです。




It was a house of  a Japanese-style artist Hashimoto Kansetsu(1883-1945).


"Living in a city, but as if living in a deep mountain."
Seeking this ideal, Kansetsu kept working on  his garden for over 30 years.

白沙村荘にいる間、お客は私ひとり。

なんだか得した気持ちでゆったり散策できました。

京都で静かな場所をお探しなら、おすすめですよ。

While I was at Hakusasonso, I think I was the only visitor.

I felt lucky and enjoyed the beautiful garden.

If you need a quiet time in Kyoto, this might be a nice  place to visit. 

Autumn Tasteｓ おいしい秋

今年の秋は友人に「いが」つき栗をいただきました。
田舎の｢道の駅」で買ってきたとか。
「いが」本当にいた～い！
なんでこんな「いが」に入っているんでしょうね？


こんな人間になってはいかん！と自戒。


One of my friends gave me these beautiful chestnuts.
Usually, at supermarkets, chestnuts are sold without the prickly burs.
She said she bought them at a small countryside shop.
They are really prickly and they hurt!
Why do they have to be so prickly?


I hope I'm not that prickly!!

しばらくテーブルの上に飾っていましたが、栗ご飯にしました。
私はいつもサツマイモも入れます。




For a few days, I admired them on our table.
Then, I made Kuri Gohan (chestnuts rice).
I usually add  diced sweet potatoes, too.
Yummy!

別の友人はお庭でとれた柿をたくさんくれました。

お店で売っているほど大きくはないし、種もたくさんあるけれど、これがまた懐かしくて好きです。

昔うちにも柿の木があったので。

Another friend of mine gave me many persimmons from his tree.

They are not as big as store-sold persimmons..

They have seeds, not like store-sold persimmons.

But I like them.

They remind me of my old home with a persimmon tree.

ずいぶん寒くなってきましたが、どうぞお元気で。


It has become quite cold these days.

65景 角筈熊野十二社俗称十二そう Tsunohazu Kumano Jyunisha

画面左下に見えるのが江戸時代熊野十二社と呼ばれていた神社です。

今は熊野神社と呼ばれています。

At the left bottom of the picture, you can see a shrine.

It was called Kumano Junisha Gongensha in the Edo era.

Now, it is called Kumano Shrine.

このあたりは人気の景勝地だったそうです。

大きな池が二つあり、また滝などもあったとか。

池の周りに涼み棚を出して、涼んでいる人が見えますね。

のどかな景色です。　

This area was a popular scenic spot among Edo people.

There were two big ponds and also several waterfalls.

On the picture, you can see some people enjoying the summer breeze over the terraces around the pond.

Peaceful, isn't it?

さて、熊野神社へ向かいます。

新宿駅西口から歩いていけますよ。

Now, let's visit Kumano Shrine.

It's not far from the West Exit of Shinjuku station.

新宿中央公園を抜けていきます。

I walked through Shinjuku Chuo Park.

昔を意識してでしょうか？

公園内に滝がありました。

Like old days, they have some waterfalls.

熊野神社に到着です。

This is Kumano Shrine.

神官の方に、池の方向を聞きました。

彼が指差した先には…

I asked the man at the shrine which direction the pond was.

He pointed to...

おやおや、池はありません。

池は１９６８年に埋め立てられてしまったそうです。

Oops! 

No, pond!

I learned that the pond was buried in 1968.

でもなんとか広重のような写真をとらねば。

広重はかなり高いところから見てこの絵を描いていますよね。

どこから写真を撮ろうかな…

ぐるりと見回すと…

But anyway, I have to take a picture as close to Hiroshige's picture as possible.

Hiroshige's viewpoint is quite high.

Where can I take the picture...

I looked around...

東京都庁が見えました！

４５階に展望室があるんですよね！

なんかいいアイディアかも！

Oh, that's Tokyo Metropolitan Goverment Building!

They have The Twin Observatories on the 45th floor!

What a brilliant idea!

というわけで、都庁に歩いていきました。

本当に立派な建物ですね。

おまけに展望室は無料なんです。

I walked to the building.

It's magnificent.

And it's free!

東京を一望して、カフェでコーヒーもいただきました。

I enjoyed the panoramic view of Tokyo and had a cup of coffee at the cafe.

And then, back to Hirhoshige's picture.

Well, how does it look??

熊野神社をいい感じで撮れましたが、

それにしてもなんたる違い！

ちょっとため息。

I got the Kumano Shrine right.

But what a difference!

I couldn't help but sigh...
