１８景 王子稲荷の社 View 18 Oji Inari Shrine

王子稲荷神社は王子駅の近くにあります。

Oji Inari Shrine is near the Oji Station. 

立派な建物ですね。桜もきれいでした。

Ｉt is a splendid shrine.  Cherry blossoms were just gorgeous.

ここは関東の稲荷の総元締め。

ご存知のとおり稲荷の使者は狐ですよね。

そこで江戸時代、関東一円の狐が大晦日の夜にここで集会を開くと信じられていたそうです。

Among so many Inari shrines in Kanto region, this shrine is the main one.

You may not know, but the messenger of Inari is a fox.

So, in Edo era, people believed that all the foxes from all over Kanto region gathered here on the New Year's Eve.

というわけでたくさんの狐の像があります。

There are a lot of fox statues.

「御石様」という大きな石がありました。

願いを唱えてから石を持ち上げます。

もし軽く感じたら願いがすぐかなうそうですよ。

There was a big rock called "Oishi-sama".

You make a wish and try lifting the rock.

If you can lift it easily,  your wish will be granted soon.

私もやってみましたが……

重くてあがりませんでした。(T_T)
もっと頑張れ、ということだそうです。

I tried......

It was too heavy.  I couldn't lift it. (T_T)
It means I have to try harder.

さてそれでは今と昔を比べてみましょう。

Well, how does the place look like now?

今回はなかなかいい感じ。

満足です。

They look quite similar.
