Kanesugi bridge Shibaura

Though you can only see a bit of a red railing,
this is Kanesugi bridge near Hamamatsu-cho.

Hiroshige painted the crowd going for a ceremony called Oeshiki at Ikegami Honmonji Temple.
The temple is about 10 Km south of this bridge.

Oeshiki is still held every year, between October 10-13.
On the night of 12, they have a beautiful parade.
I hear a lot of people come to see the parade.

In the picture, people look so enthusiastic, carrying flags and banging the drums.

It's hard to tell, but far beyond the green trees,
the big roof of Tsukiji Honganji Temple is painted.

Can we still see Tsukiij from this area?
To check the view, I decided to go up to the observatory in the World Trade Center Building nearby.

The green area is the famous Hama-rikyu Garden.
Far beyond that is Tsukiji.
There is no roof of Tsukiji Honganji Temple.
But instead, I saw the big blue roofs of Tsukiij Market.

Below, I saw Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Garden.
From this height, it looked like a miniature garden!
It's easy to tell that it is a strolling garden with ponds

This is Zojoji Temple and Tokyo Tower.
Daimon, Sangedatsumon, and Daiden are forming one straight line.

After enjoying the view, I went to look for Kanesugi bridge.
It wasn't hard to find.

But the bridge was under the highway.
Not beautiful...

Many fishing boats were moored.

Let's compare Now and Then....

Alas!

But it was good I saw the view from the observatory first.
I know it's hard, but let's just try to imagine.
Far beyond this bridge, there is the green Hama-rikyu Garden, and far far beyond that, there is Tsukiji.
