たこ焼き大好き Takoyaki


無性にたこ焼きを食べたくなるときがあります。
というわけで、この間家でたこ焼きを作って食べました。

Do you know what takoyaki is?  It's a very tasty light meal in Japan, especially popular in the Osaka area.

The other day, we made takoyaki at home.

I would like to show you how to make it.



材料です。

Now, the ingredients....




細かく刻んだキャベツとたこ。
それにうちでは天かすと紅しょうがを用意します。

You need finely chopped cabbage (right) and diced octopus (center).
Tenkasu (deep fried batter, above left) and benishoga(red pickled ginger, below) are optional.


生地はたこ焼き粉が簡単ですね。

Also you need batter....we use special takoyaki flour, but it's a mixture of flour, eggs, and dashi (soup stock).



恥ずかしながら、年季の入った鋳鉄製のたこ焼き器とこれまた年季の入ったカセットコンロです。たこ焼き器は丈夫で多分一生もつと思います…。

We have this special cast iron mold for takoyaki.
We put it on our portable gas stove and start heating it.
(We like to do it at our dining table...we can keep making more takoyaki as we eat.)


よく熱したら生地を入れ、材料を豪快に加えます。
待っている間は飲んだり、話したり。
そしていいところでひっくり返していきます。

Pour the batter on the heated mold and sprinkle the other ingredients.

We wait, drinking and talking.

And we start turning it over.





できあがり!お好み焼きソース、かつお節、青海苔、マヨネーズをかけていただきます!

When it is done, we take it on our plate, pour special okonomiyaki sauce.
Garnish it with katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) and aonori (ground dry seaweed).
I also add some mayonnaise.



おいしくって楽しいですよ!

It is so delicious and fun!

I’m from Kansai.So I love takoyaki!
Your takoyaki looks so delicious.
Looking at your blog,I remember I have a iron
mold for takoyaki as yours.
I haven’t made takoyaki for over 10 years at home.
I'll try to make takoyaki with special takoyaki flour that I didn’t know.

Please make it with takoyaki flour. It's so easy and good.
