79景 鉄砲洲築地門跡 Teppozu Tsukiji Monzeki

 佃島の南海上から築地方面を見た図です。

佃島の漁師でしょうか。

釣りをしている人が小さくたくさん描かれています。

向こうにそびえる大屋根が築地本願寺、別名築地門跡です。

This is a view of Tsukiji from the sea, south of Tsukuda island.

Fishermen, probably from Tsukuda-island, are catching fish.

The big roof in a distance is that of Tsukiji Honganji Temple, or Tsukiji Monzeki.

今その大屋根はありません。

関東大震災で焼失してしまいました。

今はこんな感じ。

Now the big roof doesn't exist.

It was burnt down when the Great Kanto Earthquake struck Tokyo in 1923.

Now it looks like this.

 おや、全然お寺っぽくないですね。

古代インド様式だそうです。

仏教寺院としては珍しくパイプオルガンがあって、毎月最終金曜日１２：２０～１２：５０ランチタイムコンサートが開かれているそうです。

ちょっと面白そう。

Unlike the most Japanese temples, it was built in the style of ancient India. 

It has a pipe organ, which is also rare for a Japanese temple.

It has "Lunch-time concert" on the last Friday of every month, from 12:20 to 12:50.

Sounds interesting.

築地本願寺を確認した後で、今度は佃島南の海上からの眺めを見にいきます。

でも船に乗らなくても大丈夫。

そのあたりは今は埋め立てられ月島になっていますからね。

勝どき橋を渡って月島へ。

ビルの三日月マークが見えますか？

Now, I have to see Tsukiji Monzeki from Hiroshige's viewpoint, i.e. from the sea.

But I don't need a boat.

Because the area is now a reclaimed land of Tsuki island.

("Tsuki" means the moon.)
All I have to do is to cross this bridge, KachidokiBashi Bridge.

橋の上は気持ちよかったですよ。

船が隅田川を上って行きます。

It felt very nice on the bridge.

There are many boats going up and down the Sumida River.

 橋を渡りきりました。

勝どき橋はこんなふうに見えます。

I just finished crossing the Kachidoki bridge.

 さて、では広重さんの視点で眺めてみましょう。

Now let's look at Tsukiji from Hiroshige's viewpoint.

高い建物にさえぎられて、築地本願寺は見ることはできませんでした。

大屋根のかわりにとっても立派なビルがそびえています。

「東京新阪急ホテル築地」でした。

Tsukiji Honganji temple is behind many buildings.

Instead of the big roof, a big tall building is soaring to the sky.

It is "Hotel New Hankyu Tokyo."
